Description
The purchase of t-shirts and sweatshirts will help fund the Newman Police K9 Association throughout the year. The Newman Police K9 Association is a non-profit tax-exempt public charity established to assist with the costs associated with the maintenance of their canines, safety gear, and vehicle upgrades. These K9s provide a valuable and needed service to the community by assisting in apprehending criminal suspects who victimize our community as well as locating illegal narcotics. The K9 Association also provides the required care, equipment, and training for current working dogs and retired dogs who have worked hard to protect and serve.
- K-9 Officer Ringo (E.O.W. 7-19-2015), a 9year old male Belgian Malinois apprehension dog, served with the NPD for four years until he suffered life threatening injuries during routine training. K9 Officer Ringo faithfully discharged his duties protecting the City of Newman and his handler.
- K-9 Officer Ares, a two year old male Belgian Malinois apprehension dog, is the newest canine addition to the unit. With just a few months on the job, he has already proven to be an asset to the Newman community.
- K-9 Officer Sam, a three year old female Labrador narcotics dog, has served Newman since 2013. Highly energetic, she is always willing to work.
Proceeds from the sale of these shirts and sweatshirts will help the Newman Police K9 Association ease the burden of cost running the unit and will not benefit the Newman Police Department.
